Strange, Ketapang Prison Prisoners Escape PKB Representative DPRD Candidates

PONTIANAK - Detainees of Class II B Ketapang Prison, West Kalimantan, with the initials AUR passed the list of permanent candidates (DCT) of the Ketapang Regency DPRD from the National Awakening Party (PKB).

AUR, which is currently undergoing legal proceedings and being detained since May 2023, is registered as a legislative candidate in the 5 Ketapang electoral district, including Marau, Manis Mata, and Air Upas sub-districts. DCT was announced on November 4.

Head of the West Kalimantan KPU Law and Supervision Division, Heru Hermansyah, stated that his party had received a report from the Ketapang Regency KPU regarding this issue.

"We have coordinated and communicated with the Ketapang KPU regarding the determination of DCT in one of the candidates. We ask the Ketapang KPU to make a chronology," said Heru Thursday, November 16.

Heru said that his party needed to fully know the problems that occurred after the determination of DCT at the Ketapang KPU. Furthermore, this will be followed by conducting studies.

"When we find out the complete chronology, we will then conduct studies. Then we open the rules, what kind of follow-up will we convey to the Ketapang KPU for them to follow up," he explained.

Regarding the potential for elimination or cancellation of DCT and the nomination of legislative candidates, Heru stated that this would be done in accordance with the election mechanisms and regulations at the KPU.

"We are still coordinating, and we have not been able to provide justification for the status concerned. This is the first time, we have studied the chronology of the Ketapang KPU and conducted a legal study," he said.

This issue will be reviewed according to the rules in PKPU Number 10 of 2023 concerning the Candidacy of Members of the DPR, Provincial DPRD, and Regency/City DPRD.

"We will see where the regulations are. Now, for those concerned, we will apply the appropriate rules, which can be applied to those concerned," said Heru.

Heru stated that after conducting studies, the West Kalimantan KPU would coordinate with the KPU, which made PKPU Number 10 of 2023.

"Of course it is related to interpretation, as well as explanations related to PKPU. We will wait, we will study it, and we will conduct a legal study," he said.

Based on the information gathered, until now, AUR is still a detainee at the Ketapang District Attorney's Office and is facing further legal proceedings at the High Court.
