JAKARTA - Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Anwar Abbas said that MUI has never released a list of products from companies affiliated or supporting Israel.
"In connection with the many names of pro-Israel products or brands affiliated with the country, the MUI needs to explain that MUI has never issued a list of products from companies that support and or are affiliated with supporting Israel," Anwar Abbas said in his statement, Wednesday, November 15, quoted by Antara.
Buya Anwar said the MUI did not issue a haram fatwa for products affiliated with Israel. But it forbids actions to support Israel which currently continue to colonize Palestine.
Therefore, he said, if there are companies in Indonesia that support Israel's actions or are affiliated with, then the law is obliged to remind them that their actions are wrong.
"Because apart from contradicting religious teachings, it is also against the constitution of our country, where in the preamble to the 1945 Constitution in the first region it is said that independence is actually the right of all nations," he said.
MUI urges the people to support the struggle of the Palestinian people and do their best to avoid transactions and use of products made or affiliated with Israel
"But if it turns out that the company does not support Israel's barbaric actions, then this fatwa certainly does not apply to their products," he said.

In line with Buya Anwar, Secretary of the MUI Fatwa Commission Miftahul Huda said he had never released a list of Israeli products and their affiliates that should be boycotted as circulated on the internet.
In addition, he said, MUI has never banned Israeli products and their affiliates such as those circulating on social media recently.
"So, MUI is not competent to release Israeli products or affiliated with Israel. And what we forbid is not the product, but its supporting activities," he said.
He emphasized that MUI also has no right to revoke products that have halal certification.
"So, for example, if the product has been certified halal, then we have no right to revoke it. Because the halal certification system has involved many parties. So, we never released the list of products," he said.
