The joint team managed to arrest two youths with the initials RA and MG who tried to smuggle 10 kilograms of methamphetamine along with 86 ecstasy pills at Sekayam border Indonesia-Malaysia, Sanggau Regency, West Kalimantan Province (West Kalimantan). "The perpetrator and evidence are currently being handled by the West Kalimantan Police's Narcotics Directorate for further legal proceedings," said Head of Public Relations of the West Kalimantan Police, Kombes Raden Petit Wijaya, in Pontianak, Antara, Tuesday, November 14. It is known that the joint team that succeeded in thwarting drug smuggling consisted of the Sub-Directorate of the Narcotics Directorate of the West Kalimantan Police, Bais TNI, SGI Kodam XII Tanjungpura, Intel Kodim 1204 Sanggau, BNN, Customs and Excise, and Koramil 1204-02 Sekayam. Petit said that the plan was for the methamphetamine and ecstasy pills from Malaysia to be circulated in Central Kalimantan and South Kalimantan. However, thanks to reports and information from the public, the two perpetrators were arrested by a joint team along with evidence of 10 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 86 ecstasy pills, at 00.30 WIB, Monday (13/11) yesterday. Apart from that, the officers also confiscated a car and three cellphones. "The two perpetrators were Indonesian citizens who were arrested while crossing the unofficial route of the Indonesia-Malaysia border," he said. Petit explained that the two perpetrators RA and MG were charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) and/or Article 112 paragraph (2) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. For the rampant circulation and efforts to smuggle drugs in the West Kalimantan region, the public is advised to continue to support efforts to eradicate narcotics in order to maintain security and prosperity together.

Petit said the case was proof of the commitment of the National Police and the TNI and other officers in protecting the public from the dangers of narcotics. "The circulation and abuse of drugs must be eradicated together to save the younger generation and the nation from illicit narcotics trafficking," said Petit.
