Jokowi: The OKI Summit Is Important To Stop Israeli Attacks On Palestine

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo said the Extraordinary High Level Conference of Islamic Cooperation Organizations (OKI) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was very important as an additional effort to stop Israeli attacks on Palestinians.

At the summit, the leaders of the OIC countries will discuss the current situation in Gaza, which is the center of conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas group, since October 7, 2023.

"I will emphasize the space so that a ceasefire can be carried out immediately and humanitarian aid can be enlarged," said President Jokowi shortly before leaving for Riyadh from Juandadi Sidoarjo International Airport, East Java, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, November 10.

From Riyadh, President Jokowi is scheduled to continue his trip to Washington DC, United States, on Sunday (12/11), to meet US President Joe Biden the next day, Monday (13/11).

According to Jokowi, the bilateral meeting with Joe Biden was a good opportunity to voice Indonesia's firm position regarding Gaza.

"This visit is a good opportunity to convey directly the results of the OIC Summit in Riyadh, which reflects the solidarity of OIC countries to defend justice and humanity," said the President.

Dari Washington DC, Presiden Jokowi yang didampingi delegasi terbatas akan menuju ke San Francisco untuk menghadiri KTT APEC.

Inclusive sustainable development and development are two priority issues that Indonesia will voice in the economic organization consisting of 21 countries in the Asia Pacific region.

President Jokowi is also scheduled to hold several bilateral meetings and meetings with business people in San Francisco during the APEC Summit which will take place from 15 to 17 November 2023.

"Insyaallah's entourage and I will leave San Francisco on November 17 after the summit is completed and returns to the country," said President Jokowi.
