JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin received a visit from the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Indonesia Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Mudi to discuss strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Vice President's Special Staff and Spokesperson for Vice President Masduki Baidlowi said the meeting between the two discussed strengthening cooperation between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, especially in the investment sector.

"The hope from the Saudi Arabian Ambassador was also welcomed by the Vice President regarding the investment movement of the two countries which must be encouraged immediately. That is an implementation of the 'people to people diplomacy'," Masduki said in a press statement reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 7.

Masduki said bilateral relations between the two countries had been going on for a long time and continued to improve.

One of these improvements was marked by the signing of several memorandums of understanding when President Joko Widodo visited Saudi Arabia on October 18.

A number of memorandums of understanding agreed by the two countries include economic, investment, socio-cultural areas to additional hajj quotas for departure in 2024.

Masduki said the Vice President welcomed the strengthening of this cooperation and emphasized the importance of implementing the agreement that had been made so that there were concrete results produced.

"The most important thing about the meeting was the formation of a high committee led by each country's leaders, so that the agreement that had been signed at the MoU could be implemented," he said.

Masduki said the Vice President appreciated the development of cooperation between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia and also supported its implementation in Indonesia with stakeholders.
