Gaza Luluh Hits, ASPAG-ILO Partnership Is Believed To Overcome Challenges Urge Palestinian Workers

JAKARTA - Secretary-General of the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) Anwar Sanusi believes the problems of workers in Palestine can be resolved amid the escalation of Israel's annulatory attack on Gaza.

Anwar said the partnership of Asian Pacific Group (ASPAG) member countries and the International Labor Organization (ILO) would dedicate to overcoming urgent challenges, especially those related to workers in Palestine today.

"ASPAG believes partnerships are very important in overcoming the problems faced by Palestinian workers," Anwar said in his statement, Friday, November 3, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to him, jointly it can have a meaningful impact on the lives of Palestinian workers and contribute to the peace and social justice that the region wants to achieve.

Anwar revealed that ASPAG calls on member countries, development partners, and donors to increase collaborative efforts, both financially and technically, to create long-term solutions.

"Strengthening this partnership is very important to ensure that Palestinians can access feasible job opportunities and social protection," he said.

Anwar added, the importance of the Palestinian national employment strategy for 2021-2025. This strategy is in line with the objectives of decent job opportunities, social protection and increased labor market governance.

"We call on the international community to accelerate financial and technical assistance to ensure its implementation effectively," he said.

ASPAG fears that the impact of increasing Israeli attacks on Gaza, Palestine will result in high unemployment rates and reduced job prospects, as outlined in GB.349/POL/4.

"The alarming unemployment rate, particularly among women and the younger generation, requires immediate and coordinated action. ASPAG fully supports transformative interventions to pave the way for long-term employment solutions in Palestine," he said.

Anwar assessed that the goal of ASPAG to encourage decent work, social justice, freedom of association and mutual negotiations, will always be hampered by persistent instability and uncertainty in Palestine.

"Promises for dignified employment, fair wages, and inclusive growth according to the ideals of the ILO leader, depending on the basis of peace," he concluded.
