Pretrial Of Ex-Director Of Pertamina Rejected By South Jakarta District Court, KPK: We Obey Provisions And Mechanisms

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) appreciates the decision of the South Jakarta District Court (PN) rejecting the pretrial filed by former President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Karen Agustiawan today, Thursday, November 2.

Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri said this decision was appropriate because investigators were working according to the existing mechanism. Therefore, it is right for the judge to decide to reject Karen's request entirely.

"We make sure that all investigation processes by the KPK comply with existing provisions and mechanisms," Ali told reporters, Thursday, November 2.

"KPK appreciates the decision of the pre-trial case Number: 113/Pid Pra/2023/PN Jkt Sel which was requested by the suspect GKK," he continued.

The KPK has no problem with the pretrial filing. Ali said that this legal step could be taken and became part of controlling the investigation of alleged corruption by the KPK.

"We also did not limit when the suspects filed a pre-trial. Because it is also part of the control of the formal aspect in case settlement by the KPK," he said.

As previously reported, Tunggal Judge Tumpanuli Marbun said the investigation carried out by the KPK as the respondent and named Karen as a suspect was in accordance with applicable legal procedures and mechanisms. He was determined regarding the alleged corruption in the procurement of liquid natural gas (LNG) by PT Pertamina (Persero).

"The trial in the exception stated that the applicant's exception was unacceptable. Rejected the pretrial application in its entirety," Marbun said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, November 2.

Judge Marbun revealed the reasons for the rejection of the pretrial proposed by Karen, who is the President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) 2009-2014. One of them has suffered state financial losses.

In addition, the evidence held by the KPK in ensnaring Karen is considered very strong and convincing in accordance with applicable legal provisions.
