JAKARTA - Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB) Abdullah Azwar Anas said his party would accelerate promotion for State Civil Apparatus (ASN) who serve in remote areas.
"In the future, those who are there (restrict areas) for two years have been promoted, providing incentives for them. Hopefully in the future with this, many young ASN will be placed in remote areas," said Azwar Anas as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 31.
Azwar said that currently many areas lack competent young ASN, one of which is the same career path between ASN who work in cities and in remote areas.
"So far, it has been difficult for us to get good ASN to be there, on average we want to be in the city. Even though in areas we need ASN, health workers, great doctors. Why? Because the rank is the same in the regions and in Jakarta," he said.
He said this was one of the reasons why there were around 100 thousand ASN formations in unoccupied areas.
However, Azwar is optimistic that the vacancy of ASN formations in the regions can be filled this year. This is because the number of applicants for prospective civil servants this year has exceeded the number of formations available.
"Yesterday there were 100 thousand ASN formations that were not filled, now from 526 thousand formations, now 2.4 million people have registered," he said.

Azwar also conveyed that one of the contents of the ASN Bill was about the rank of ASN which was placed in other agencies.
"If all this time the policy is frozen. Now in the future, with the new law, friends will still be able to continue to run. I think this is good news for our ASN so that those assigned elsewhere can still run," he said.
