Previously, the Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, said that her party had received a presidential letter from President Jokowi regarding the proposed name of the candidate for TNI commander in chief to replace Admiral Yudo Margono who would retire at the end of November.

Puan said, based on the TNI Law, the President is obliged to propose a candidate to replace the TNI Commander to the DPR outside the recess period. The mechanism will run approximately 20 days after the progress is received by the leadership of the DPR.

"Because we have received the presidential decree and will implement the mechanism in accordance with what is in the DPR, to then forward the proposal for a replacement name for the next TNI commander according to the mechanism in the DPR," said Puan.

Puan then announced the name of the candidate for TNI commander proposed by President Jokowi, namely, Head of KASAD General TNI Agus Subiyanto.

"On this occasion, I will announce the replacement candidate for the TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono. The name proposed by the President is TNI General Agus Subiyanto SE, MSI," said Puan.

Agus Subiyanto's military career is fairly fast. This was seen when he was nominated as TNI Commander to replace Admiral Yudo Margono.

It is known that Agus was only inaugurated as Army Chief of Staff (KASAD) on October 25, 2023. Just a week in office, President Jokowi proposed his name as TNI Commander.

It is known that Agus graduated from the Military Academy (Akmil) in 1991 from the infantry branch of the Special Forces Command (Kopassus).

Agus Subiyanto's military career began by serving as Head of Operations for Sector AA in East Timor.
