South Sumatra Policewomen Prepared To Negotiate Security Disturbances In The 2024 Election

The South Sumatra Police (Sumsel) has alerted a team of negotiators from female police units (polwan) to deal with potential disturbances in security and public order (kamtibmas) in facing the 2024 General Election.

"The negotiator team consisting of hundreds of policewomen has been alerted and at any time ready to carry out the task of maintaining security and social order in facing the entire 2024 election series," said South Sumatra Policewomen Negotiator Team AKBP Yenni Diarty after giving a briefing at the Athidhira Wirabakti field at the Palembang Pakri Complex, Monday, October 30, confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the policewomen negotiator team was ready to go to the field at any time when there were mass mobilization activities such as during the legislative election campaign as well as the presidential and vice presidential elections.

The policewomen negotiator team is expected if there is an action to mobilize the masses of political parties participating in the election can be prevented from taking action that has the potential to cause disturbances in security and social order.

"The presence of a policewomen negotiator team is expected to be able to reduce mass actions which may cause disturbances to public order and the stages of elections," he said.

Yenni in front of all policewomen, emphasized that the negotiator team should continue to strive to be humane and persuasive, not easily provoked by emotions when in the field.

Ordered policewomen to establish communication with the masses and be able to facilitate mass representatives in an action. In fact, policewomen are expected to appeal to the masses of political party cadres and sympathizers to follow the campaign for mass mobilization in an orderly, safe and peaceful manner, so as not to interfere with road users' activities or interfere with community activities.

"I convey the special directive to the policewomen so that they can master their duties professionally as well as be able to become a reliable negotiator team," said Yenni.

Previously, the Head of Ops for the South Sumatra Regional Police, Police Commissioner Reza Herasbudi, said that his party was trying to improve public security and order (kamtibmas) in the province with 17 districts and cities being more conducive to facing the February 2024 General Election.

"The simultaneous voting for the presidential and legislative elections is only a few months away, to prevent things that can disrupt the security and social order ahead of the five-yearly people's democratic party, personnel preparedness is carried out through the Steamous Operation Brata Musi 2023," he concluded.
