The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Gunung Rinjani National Park Center (TNGR) appealed to the public or climbers to jointly maintain the cleanliness, sustainability and originality of Mount Rinjani by not littering and always obeying the applicable rules.

Recently, the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) National Park Office (TNGR) together with the Rinjani Ring Road Tourism Forum carried out waste cleaning activities on the Sembalun climbing tourist route and the Torean hiking trail to the Mount Rinjani area, East Lombok Regency.

Head of the West Nusa Tenggara TNGR Center, Dedy Asriady, in a written statement in Mataram, Saturday said the location of the clean-up was carried out along the Sembalun hiking trail and the Pangangan Sembalun camp area to Segara Anak Lake.

"The total amount of waste that was collected on the hiking trail was 130 kilograms," he said.

Meanwhile, on the Torean hiking trail, a total of 87 kilograms of waste was collected with a clean-up location along the Torean, Arean camp and Segara Anak Lake hiking trails.

"The types of garbage from this clean-up activity consist of plastic waste, plastic bottles, can bottles, glass bottles, tissue, and organic waste," he said, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, October 28.

He said that the presence of garbage on Mount Rinjani was certainly not only limited to disturbing the scenery and making Rinjani's nature look dirty. In the end, the garbage left by climbers who just walk on Mount Rinjani will interfere with the ecosystem in it.

"The waste that is thrown away will certainly damage the beauty of tourism in the Mount Rinjani area. Hygiene is the beginning of a good assessment of a person. A good personality will maintain the cleanliness of himself, his environment and the environment around him," he said.
