Makassar Prison Warden Fails To Smuggle Methamphetamine Attached To Garbage Transport Vehicles

Makassar Class I Correctional Institution (Lapas) officers, South Sulawesi, thwarted an attempt to smuggle clear crystals of suspected methamphetamine into the detention cell of inmates by visitors.

Makassar Kalapas Teguh Pamuji said all prison officers on duty had understood the modes that tried to smuggle prohibited items into prisons until the officers finally uncovered them.

"It is true that our prison officers thwarted the smuggling that was suspected of being methamphetamine and affixed to the Makassar prison garbage transport vehicle," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 26.

According to Teguh, the drug smuggling attempt was thwarted by Makassar prison officers who received a report from one of the inmates with the initials BD.

Based on the report of one of the inmates, then checked the motorbike carrying Makassar prison garbage and checked the details until finally a package was found attached to the motorbike to trick the officer.

"When an inspection was carried out on the suspicious object which was in a garbage transport vehicle parked outside the prison with other officers," said Teguh.

Makassar Prison Security Head Muhammad Ali together with the Head of Security and Order (Kamtib) of Makassar Prison Hariyanto who received a report immediately searched every part of the garbage motorbike.

"We checked the entire motorbike and we got a package of small black plastic bags that were taped. Inside, four plastic clips were found containing white crystalline powder suspected of being methamphetamine," he explained.
