The National Police Opens Opportunities To Check Again KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri Regarding Allegations Of SYL Extortion

JAKARTA - KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri has finished undergoing examination as a witness in the alleged extortion case against former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo, today. However, it is possible that Firli will be questioned again.

"What if other additional information is needed, we will schedule a summons to witness FB to be questioned again in his capacity as a witness," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak to reporters, Tuesday, October 24.

The opening is likely that Firli will be questioned again because a joint investigative team from the Directorate of Corruption Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency and the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police will hold consolidation.

The goal is to determine the next steps in handling the alleged extortion case, including the lack of information that is difficult to provide Firli Bahuri.

"It will be a consolidation material in joint investigators tonight to determine whether the testimony of FB witnesses is sufficient or other additional information is needed," he said.

Ade did not specify the number of questions raised by the joint investigative team. Only conveyed, the KPK chairman was asked to explain about the alleged extortion carried out by the KPK leadership and his meeting with Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

"There are several questions that we ask him regarding the criminal acts that we are currently investigating," said Ade.

In the process of investigating the case, investigators have examined 54 witnesses. Some of them, such as Syahrul Yasin Limpo, Semarang Police Chief Kombes Irwan Anwar.

The series of cases of alleged extortion or acceptance of gratuities by the KPK leadership against Syahrul Yasin Limpo began when Polda Metro Jaya received Dumas on August 12, 2023.

With the complaint, the Tipidkor Sub-Directorate of the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya collected information on the basis of a statement collection order (pulbaket) issued on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.

Not long after, investigators issued an investigation warrant on August 21. At this stage, a number of witnesses were examined, one of which was SYL.

Then, after the series of investigations were completed, investigators carried out a case title. As a result, a criminal element was found so that the status of the case was upgraded to the investigation stage.
