JAKARTA - Chairman of the House of Representatives' Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP), Fadli Zon, urged the resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and support the independent Palestinians.

This was said by Fadli at the 12th Inter-Parliamentary Meeting of Indonesia and the European Union at the European Union Parliament Building, Strasbourg, France. During the meeting was attended by the Chairperson of the European Union Parliamentary Delegation for Southeast Asia and ASEAN (DASE) Daniel Caspary.

In front of EU MPs who are members of the DASE, Fadli Zon firmly called for the acts of violence and attacks carried out by Israel against the Palestinian people in Gaza to be stopped immediately.

"The international community must urge Israel to end its occupation and blockade of the Gaza Strip," Fadli said in his statement, Sunday, October 22. He stressed that the root of the ongoing conflict was the occupation of the Palestinian territories by Israel. The relentless challenge faced by the Palestinian people is actually rooted in the world's inaction and the silence of the international community, including the United Nations, over the ongoing oppression carried out by Israel.

Fadli stressed the importance of objective reporting and urged the world to end double standards in responding to the conflict in Palestine. Highlighting the increasing tension and the humanitarian impact of this conflict, he provides a clear picture of how urgent the situation is in the Gaza region.

"The conflict escalation has reached a critical level. Gaza has collapsed. More than 2.2 million people have been trapped, and thousands of people have died in a matter of weeks, mostly women and children. They currently have no shelter, or access to basic needs," explained Fadli. Fadli Zon who is also Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party Board of Trustees also condemned Israel's attack on Al-Ahli Arab hospitals on October 17, 2023.

"No one can justify this terrible attack. Once again, this sad situation serves as a reminder that global peace will not be achieved until everyone can live in peace," he said.

He then called on the international community, including the European Union, to immediately mediate a ceasefire and reduce the ever-spreading conflict and claimed many lives on both sides.

"We must also actively encourage the resumption of the peace negotiations process which has stalled since 2014," he added.

In addition, the distribution of humanitarian aid and access to safe protection for civilians trapped in Gaza must be prioritized immediately and should no longer be postponed.
