Former Walkot Bima Corruption Suspect Proposes Suspension Of Detention To KPK Due To Heart Disease

The suspect in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of goods and services as well as receiving gratuities at the Bima City Government in 2019-2020, Muhammad Lutfi, has submitted a suspension of detention to KPK investigators. Muhammad Lutfi's attorney, Abdul Hanan, said that his party is now waiting for confirmation from the KPK regarding the application for a suspension of detention last week. "Regarding the application for a suspension of detention, we have submitted no response from the KPK. We are still waiting," said Hanan in Mataram, Antara, Friday, October 20. He hopes that the KPK can immediately respond considering the reasons for this submission because of the health condition of the former Mayor of Bima who had to immediately carry out surgery due to heart disease. The reason for the submission was also confirmed by the notification letter of Muhammad Lutfi's medical history and the recommendation of action from Abdi Waluyo Hospital, Central Jakarta. "So, our client has been suffering from heart disease for a long time," he said. He said that his client had long received surgery recommendations from the hospital. However, Muhammad Lutfi postponed the operation because he wanted to cooperate with the ongoing legal process at the anti-corruption commission.

"Because if our client performs surgery, of course (the legal process) is hindered. Moreover, the doctor's diagnosis is very clear, surgery must be carried out," he said.
