Sandiaga Calls Mahfud MD Cawapres Election Process Very Open, Ready To Support Logistics

BOGOR - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno said the process of selecting Mahfud MD as vice presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo was very open.

"Last week there was indeed a leadership directive, because the decision will be taken in a few days. Around the day before I was told, the process was very open, very fair, very friendly, full of brotherhood, and this was a unanimous decision," Sandiaga said in Bogor, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 19.

Sandiaga said that he would continue to work well as a minister and politician with the hope that democracy in Indonesia would be maintained.

"In Indonesia, it's different for me, I'm also a different party from the Mayor, but we are united in the creative economy," said Sandi.

Sandiaga also expressed his relief against the decision of PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri who led the coalition carrying Ganjar Pranowo to become a presidential candidate in the 2024 general election (election).

"Already. Earlier, I took a breath (while taking an example of taking a breath, red), three breaths were held, three seconds, then I was released, I just got a book from Mrs. Nur. I really use it, called Breath," he smiled.

Sandi also stated that he would continue to support Ganjar-Mahfud in the 2024 presidential election, including logistical support.

"It should be because it is part of the task in politics. Logistical support must be, because politics is a politics of dedication and sacrifice," he said.

However, he continued, there has been no directive as a national winning body (BPN) for the Ganjar-Mahfud pair. "There has been no direction from the leadership, but I understand that it is completely prerogative of political parties," he said.
