Semarang District Court Executes 40 Shophouses On Land Of PT KAI

SEMARANG - Semarang City District Court executed the emptying of 40 shophouses on land owned by PT KAI in the Jurnatan area, Jalan Agus Salim, Semarang City.

The execution began with reading the determination of the Head of the Semarang District Court by the court's bailiff. Court officers accompanied by dozens of joint police and TNI personnel.

Semarang District Court spokesman Aris Bawono Langgeng said the execution process went smoothly.

"It went smoothly, there were 40 shophouses that were executed to be vacated," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 18.

The shophouse owners who knew the plan to carry out the execution had vacated the building and moved their wares.

However, there are still some. shops that are open and do not know of any planned execution because they claim to be tenants from other people.

Meanwhile, PT KAI Daop 4 Semarang Public Relations Manager Franowo Wibowo said the execution by the court was based on the decision of PT KAI's lawsuit against 40 shophouse residents who had permanent legal force.

The shophouse owners on the 3,060 square meter land, he said, rented buildings since 1975.

However, he continued, since 2008 the residents have stopped paying rent to PT KAI.

In fact, the residents actually filed a lawsuit with the Administrative Court to obtain land rights which were previously part of the Juratan Station.

In 2019, he said, KAI sued 30 shophouse owners to vacate and hand them back to PT KAI.

"The decision on the case has permanent legal force," he said.

Franoto said that the execution of the shophouse on the land of the former Jurnatan Station was part of maintaining the company's assets so that it could continue to provide benefits to KAI and the community.
