Kudus Police, Central Java, arrested a gang of fake electronic ID cards makers by securing two perpetrators along with evidence of fake e-KTPs.

"The two perpetrators have the initials HA (32) and FA (30) who are residents of Kota District, Kudus Regency. Both are currently undergoing detention in the Kudus Police cell," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kudus Police, AKP R. Danang Sri Wiratno, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 17.

The two actors have different roles. The perpetrators of HA are fake e-KTP blanks, while the other perpetrators of FA play a role in printing fake e-KTPs.

The perpetrators of HA faked one photo into several e-KTPs with different name and address identities. In addition, the perpetrators also searched for posts on social media regarding the findings in which there was an e-KTP identity to retrieve the data.

From the confiscated evidence, the e-KTPs made by the suspect were West Java, Central Java, and East Java.

The two perpetrators have been in action for two years and the fake e-KTPs are used to commit fraud by renting a camera through social media using a COD (cashon delivery) system using fake e-KTPs.

"After successfully tricking the victim, then the perpetrator sold the rental camera. Meanwhile, the proceeds of the crime were used for daily needs," he added.

The evidence that was successfully secured from the perpetrators included two HP units, one monitor unit, one keyboard, one mouse, one printer unit, one CPU unit, one family card photocopy, and 24 fake e-KTPs.

For their actions, the two perpetrators were charged with Articles 94 and 96 of Law Number 23 of 2006 concerning Population Administration with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
