JK Concerned About The Arrest Of SYL By The KPK

JAKARTA - Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2004-2009 period and the 2014 '2019 period Muhammad Jusuf Kalla considered that former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) could undergo all legal processes properly.

"I see that Syahrul is ready to face the entire legal process, that's good," said Jusuf Kalla after attending the election public dialogue for Who? The people and the state where? which took place at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta, Saturday, October 14.

Jusuf Kalla said he was concerned about the forced pick-up by the KPK against SYL. "Yes, of course I feel concerned," said JK in response to reporters' questions regarding the forced arrest by the KPK against SYL.

The forced pick-up also attracted the attention of former investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Yudi Purnomo. Yudi Purnomo questioned what urgent matters made the KPK arrest SYL, especially since the arrest certificate was signed directly by the Chairman of the KPK, Firli Bahuri.

"Actually, the investigator's authority can arrest the suspect in any condition, yes, whether a summons has been carried out, even sprindik has just been issued, it is possible to arrest the suspect," Yudi told ANTARA in Jakarta, Friday, October 13.

However, said Yudi, investigators must also comply if there are no important or urgent matters why should the rush of arresting SYL.

If the first summons and the second summons as a suspect SYL do not heed or are absent from the call or are suspected of hiding, he continued, it is necessary to make an arrest.

"However, if not, yes, communication has actually gone well. If what is seen in the news that Friday, SYL wants to come for the summons that are awaited. If Friday doesn't come according to the promise, yes, it can be arrested. Why should it be rushed?" he said.

Previously, former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo arrived at the KPK building, South Jakarta, Thursday, October 12 at around 19.16 WIB in a handcuffed condition.

Escorted by the police using three cars, Syahrul Yasin Limpo entered through the lobby of the KPK building wearing a hat equipped with a vest and mask. The former Governor of South Sulawesi boarded one of the three group cars that entered the KPK building.

After getting out of the car, the NasDem Party politician was immediately escorted by KPK security officers to climb the stairs of the KPK building.

The KPK on Wednesday, October 11, announced the determination of Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) as a suspect in a suspected corruption case at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan).

With the entry of public reports and accompanied by information and data, said Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Johanis Tanak, can and find criminal events so as to establish and announce the suspect SYL. The KPK also announced two other suspects, namely the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Kasdi Subagyono, and the Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Ministry of Agriculture, Muhammad Hatta.

KPK investigators apply three articles, namely Article 12 letter e and Article 12 B of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law no. 20 of 2001.
