Syahrul Yasin Limpo Doesn't Respond To KPK's Call Because He Visits His Sick Mother

MAKASSAR - Former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) did not fulfill the KPK's summons because he had to visit Nurhayati Yasin Limpo's mother who was sick at his residence on Jalan Haji Bau Makassar, South Sulawesi.

"He was already in (the house). Our grandmother's condition is also her parents. We represent her family asking friends for some kind of privacy to her family, coincidentally, our grandmother is temporarily sick inside," said SYL's nephew, Devo Gaddafi, to reporters quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 11.

He emphasized that even though his uncle is facing legal problems at this time, the family always supports whatever the outcome will be. In addition, SYL is said to be committed to following the legal process, including attending the KPK summons as a witness.

"Pak Syahrul has committed and will follow all legal processes that will be passed by him," he told the media crew who gathered at the residence of SYL's parents, known to the former Governor of South Sulawesi for two periods.

Separately, SYL's legal advisory team, Ervin Lubis, in a written statement stated that his client canceled attending the KPK investigator's examination on Wednesday, October 1, 2023 for visiting his mother in Makassar who was sick. Even so, Syahrul stated that he still respects the legal process.

"I respect the KPK. But allow me to meet my mother in the village first," wrote SYL in a statement delivered by Ervin's legal team.

In the written statement, SYL was forced to return to his hometown to visit his sick mother. Syahrul said, as a child it is hoped that this will further give determination in dealing with the current situation.

Based on the certificate, the SYL advisory team will bring the letter to the KPK for a request related to rescheduling the examination.

Because his client will not run away from the examination and will still fulfill the KPK's summons after meeting his 88-year-old mother who is now sick.

"This statement was conveyed that in principle Syahrul Yasin Limpo really respects the authority in the KPK investigation and remains committed to cooperatives," he said.
