Jambi Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) investigators have named six suspects in connection with the death of a detainee entrusted by a prosecutor at the Jambi Class II A Correctional Institution (Lapas).

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Jambi Police, Kompol Indar Wahyu Dwi Septiawan, said that the determination of the suspect was carried out after his party conducted a case title.

Previously, the Jambi Police conducted an examination of 24 witnesses, consisting of 19 detainees and 5 people from the Jambi Class II A Prison.

Indar emphasized that from the development of the investigation it is possible that the number of suspects could increase. Related to this, Indar is not willing to reveal who the six suspects have been named.

Meanwhile, Acting Head of Class IA Jambi Prison Junaidi Rison said he did not know the number of suspects.

For information, the detainee who died in Jambi Class II A Prison was named Agus Danil, a resident of Pandan Island, Jambi City in early September 2023. The victim was detained because he was caught in Article 363 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code regarding theft.

Victim Agus was rushed to a hospital in Jambi after previously receiving help from the prison clinic. Agus died in the hospital after previously still realizing himself when he was at the prison clinic.
