Muhammadiyah Papua Asks Vice President To Build A Human Rights Court In Jayapura

JAYAPURA - Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Papua Regional Leadership (PW) Subhan Hamid Massa conveyed a request to Vice President Ma'ruf Amin to build a Human Rights Court (HAM) in Jayapura, Papua.

"There is a request, because when there is a human rights case, the people here should feel satisfied and open. Maybe there is a human rights court in Papua, especially in Jayapura City," said Subhan Hamid Massa in an agenda meeting with Vice President Ma'ruf Amin at the office of the Governor of Papua, Jayapura, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 10.

Hamid said that currently there are many discussions among the Papuan people regarding mutual trust in each other in dealing with human rights problems.

Hamid said the presence of the Human Rights Court in Jayapura could represent the presence of the state in resolving human rights problems that occurred in Papua.

He hopes that the Human Rights Court, which is opened to the public, can present actual information about the stages of completing the legal process related to human rights.

To be able to follow the legal process related to human rights issues in Papua, said Hamid, the local community must attend a trial at the location of the human rights court located in the Makassar area, South Sulawesi.

"The closest human rights court is in Makassar," he said.

Hamid said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin expressed his ability to respond to various aspirations of the Papuan people in their capacity as Chairman of the Steering Committee for the Special Economic Acceleration of Papua (BP3OKP).

"We can ask for anything, but don't ask for something that cannot be given. As long as it is within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, we can ask for anything, whatever justice, what he conveyed and that is in line with what we convey and our ideals, the peace of Papua is sustainable," he said.
