Vice President Builds Dialogue With Human Rights Activists To Athletes While Officed In Papua

JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Ma'ruf Amin built a dialogue with all representatives of human rights activists (HAM) to athletes during their offices in Papua on 9-13 October 2023.

Special Staff for Communication and Information (Juru Bicara) Vice President Masduki Baidlowi said the activity was part of the government's efforts to accelerate the welfare development of the Papuan people.

"So I think this is very important, because the Vice President has a responsibility to be given a special task by Pak Jokowi to accelerate the development of Papua's welfare," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, October 6.

He said the Vice President would have an office in Jayapura, occupying the workspace at the Ministry of Finance's Office.

The Vice President's working visit began with the summons of the governors and regents in Papua to hold a coordination meeting regarding the evaluation of the achievements of the national program that had been realized.

Still in Jayapura, the Vice President also wants to hear directly the aspirations of human rights activists in Papua.

"The vice president wants to listen directly, not from the news, other people, or routine reports received by the vice president. The vice president wants to speak directly about what human rights activists will report there," he said.

"The follow-up activity is in the form of dialogue with athletes, considering that Papua is known to have extraordinary community talent," said Masduki.

During the meeting, said Masduki, Ma'ruf tried to realize his responsibilities in the Great Design of National Sports (DBON).

"So indeed each region has advantages that are not owned by other regions and Papua has extraordinary advantages in the field of sports," he said.

He said dialogue with athletes was held non-formally to hear their aspirations and ideals.

In Jayapura, the Vice President is also scheduled to hold a meeting with local entrepreneurs to discuss forms of business collaboration with experts outside Papua.

"There are many Papuan businessmen in the programs running in Papua, perhaps many experts outside Papua are doing it," he said.

Dalam agenda itu, Wapres mendalami batas-batasan dalam aturan tersebut agar muncul pelibatan pengusaha local Papua dalam pembangunan di daerahnya.

Apart from Jayapura, the Vice President is also scheduled to visit Wamena and Merauke to explore the aspirations of a number of traditional tribal chiefs.
