JAKARTA - The United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council (HAM) held a general discussion on the human rights situation in Palestine.

Palestine, speaking of an interested entity, said it was "very unfortunate that some parties politicized the Council's work because of the desire of the occupation authorities," the UN Human Rights Council said in a statement quoted by ANTARA from Anadolu, Thursday, October 5.

The council noted that there were more than six million refugees from Palestine and thousands of their citizens were killed in the hands of a zionist group, saying that the Israeli occupational practice that began in 1967 had become "more virulent and barbaric".

"This year commemorates Israel's 56 years as a occupation force. Civilians, journalists and health workers were targeted, and 248 people died this year and many administrative detention orders were issued," Palestinians said.

Palestine also urges the international community to assume "historical and legal responsibility" to end the occupation.

During the discussion, several speakers expressed serious concern over violations of international human rights law in occupied Palestinian territories, including the deprivation of the right to self-determination, extrajudicial killings, restrictions on freedom of movement and assembly, and illegal settlements.

"Palestinian civilians, including children, are the subject of daily and continuous killings, in addition to the policies of attacks and attacks on villages, small towns and Palestinian big cities by Israeli occupation forces and settlers," they said.

They also expressed concern over the forced eviction and evacuation of many Palestinian families in East Jerusalem, "which could be considered a war crime in the form of forced transfer," the council said in a statement.

Several speakers also expressed concern about Israeli settlements and the continuing actions in the Palestinian territories and occupied Syrian Golan.

These actions include expansion of settlements, confiscation of land, eviction of houses, and confiscation and destruction of property.

They asked all human rights violations to "end immediately".

Unfortunately, Israeli representatives were not present during the discussion.
