JAKARTA - United States President Joe Biden ensured support for Ukraine continued, warning the decline in support would make Russia even more daring to ignite a wider conflict, when meeting with allied leaders, the European Union, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

The talks included leaders of Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, Poland, Romania, Britain and France, as well as leaders of NATO, the European Commission and the European Council, who also discussed the issue of Ukraine's economic recovery and food security, the White House said.

"President Biden explained that we cannot, under any circumstances, allow American support for Ukraine to be disrupted," White House national security spokesman John Kirby told reporters.

The United States has sufficient funding commitments to meet Ukraine's battlefield needs for a longer period of time. However, they need the help of Congress to offer such support without interruption, he said.

When asked about the timing, Kirby said the United States had military supplies for "a few months or more".

Furthermore, Kirby echoed President Biden's previous criticism of a small group of Republican members blocking Ukrainian funding, stating that most Republicans support the country.

"The loss of support will see (President of Russia Vladimir) Putin believes that he can now wait us out and he can continue the conflict until we and our allies and partners give up," Kirby said.

According to him, this will also give President Putin victory.

"If we stay away from Ukraine, we basically justify his lies. Basically we tell him, 'Yes, you know? You're right, Putin, you're being mistreated, you're a victim here'," Kirby said.

"It's terrible and really plays a role in its false narrative about how this war started," he said.

The United States has so far seen no indication that President Putin has used his " propaganda machine" to exploit this situation, Kirby said.
