ACEH - Aceh Besar Police together with a joint team from the General Criminal Directorate of DVI Biddokkes Polda Aceh tested the DNA of the human bone skeleton found in a drum in the Jurong Iboh River, Indrapuri, Aceh Besar.
"DNA will be tested with comparative data that is suspected to be the family of the National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency," said Aceh Besar Police Chief AKBP Carlie Syahputra Bustam in Aceh Besar, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, October 3.
The DNA test aims to find the cause of death and the motive behind the cover of the skeleton which is still a puzzle. This scientific investigation process is expected to unravel the mystery behind the discovery.
"The authorities will provide updates as soon as they have more information about the identity of the victim, the cause of death, and how the skeleton ended up in a drum on the Jurong Iboh River," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Aceh Besar Police, Iptu Subihan Afuan Ardhi, said that the skeleton of the bones was first found by local residents, Muhda Hadi Saputra, on Sunday (1/10) at 18.00 WIB.
"Then, the witness reported the discovery to the police. The identification team from the Aceh Besar Police then excavated the drum and found the human skeleton which was thought to have been inside for a long time," he said.
However, his party did not find the victim's identity card. From the clues found, it was seen that there was a yellow t-shirt with the words 13 and cloth pants.
Local people revealed that the drum had been in the river since 2011 and was used by local residents to look for fish.
On this occasion, he appealed to people who lost their families with the characteristics of these clothes to immediately contact the nearest Polsek or the Aceh Besar Police to help further identify them.
"Local residents are also asked to provide any information that can help with the investigation," said Iptu Subihan.
