Prosecutor's Office: Allegations Of Corruption In Central Sulawesi Bawaslu Are Still In The BPKP Audit Process

PALU - The Central Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) stated that the case of alleged corruption in grant funds at the Central Sulawesi General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) in 2020 is still in the stage of calculating state financial losses or audits by the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).

"There has been no audit results since investigators submitted a PKKN application (calculation of state financial losses) in March 2023 to the Central Sulawesi representative BPKP," said the Daily Executor Head of the Legal Information Section of the Central Sulawesi Prosecutor's Office, Abdul Haris Kiay, in Palu, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, October 2.

He stated that the Central Sulawesi Prosecutor's Office did not yet know the problem with the delay in the audit process. Even though all the requested documents have been submitted and filled by investigators.

"We don't know what it looks like and how long it will take according to BPKP's operational standards in calculating state financial losses, even though the documents requested by BPKP have been fulfilled," he said.

BPKP has requested an extension of the calculation time for state financial losses in the alleged corruption case of Central Sulawesi Bawaslu worth Rp56 billion.

Although the results of the calculation of state losses do not yet exist, the Central Sulawesi Bawaslu who were examined had returned Rp200 million in installments.

He emphasized that the refund would not stop the ongoing legal process, in the sense that the investigation process would continue.

Until now, investigators from the Central Sulawesi Prosecutor's Office have examined more than 30 witnesses related to the alleged corruption of grant funds from the Central Sulawesi Provincial Government to Bawaslu in the 2020 election for governor and deputy governor.

In addition, he said, the prosecutor's office had also conducted searches and confiscated several documents related to the case in several work units (Satker), both the Bawasluprovinsi office and several district Bawaslu, in Central Sulawesi.

The search was at the Central Sulawesi Bawaslu Office on February 23, 2023, the Donggala Regency Bawaslu on February 28, 2023, the Parigi Moutong Bawaslu on March 1, 2023, and the Banggai Bawaslu Islands on March 13, 2023.
