Blitar Police Dismantle Drug Sales Mode Via Expedition

BLITAR - Blitar City Police, East Java, dismantled the mode of selling drugs that used expedition services by arresting two people involved.

The Deputy Chief of Police of Blitar City, Kompol Yoyok Dwi Purnomo, stated that in this case the police arrested two people and confiscated evidence of nearly 2 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves.

"We confiscated evidence of almost 2 kilograms or exactly 1,850 grams of dried marijuana from the perpetrators," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 29.

The two arrested perpetrators had the initials A (29), a resident of Kedungwangi Village, Sambeng District, Lamongan Regency and S (38), a resident of Wateswinangun Village, Sambeng District, Lamongan Regency. Both were arrested after picking up a package of dried marijuana from one of the freight forwards in the Blitar City area.

Previously, the Blitar City Police team received information that there was a shipment of suspected narcotics from Tangerang, West Java via an expedition. Members then conducted an investigation.

The police conducted an investigation into the collector warehouse of a freight package delivery service bureau in Malang. In accordance with the receipt, the goods were stored in the warehouse of the Malang City area and immediately sent to Blitar.

The police checked the whereabouts of the items that turned out to be sent to Blitar. After being traced, it turned out that the address was not clear and the telephone number listed, both those who sent and those who were intended, were also inactive.

Members then waited for the person who took the goods and then arrested them when they had taken packages from a shipping service or expedition in the Kepanjen Kidul sub-district, Blitar City, which turned out to be suspect A. In addition, the police also arrested another person whose location is also not far from the location of the initial arrest, namely suspect S.

For suspect S, it is a motorcycle jockey who also plays a role in supervising the surrounding situation. Both were then taken to the headquarters for further investigation.

Then for the large package taken by suspect A, it was then opened. There are two more packets of packages that have been given brown duct tape and after being opened contains solid marijuana leaves.

Head of the Blitar City Police Narcotics Unit, AKP Wardi Waluyo, added that this is the first time this has uncovered cases of marijuana trafficking sent via expeditions. From the disclosure of the cases that have been carried out so far, for drug trafficking, it was sent directly via intercity couriers.

"So far, the drug trafficking cases that we have revealed have been sent via intercity couriers, and have only recently revealed those via expeditions," said Wardi.

The police confiscated a number of evidences, namely a package containing dried marijuana leaves weighing 1,850 grams, cardboard, a motorbike, an ATM, and a cell phone.

Until now, they are still being detained on suspicion of violating Article 111 paragraph (2), and Article 132 paragraph (1) letter a of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
