Makassar City Resort Police have arrested seven people in connection with the alleged bullying case accompanied by the abuse of minors which went viral on Toddopuli Street, Makassar, South Sulawesi.

"We carried out an underlying investigation with a video circulating and viral on social media. Then we searched for the perpetrators and secured five minors, two adults," said Makassar Police Chief Kombes Mokh Ngajib as reported by ANTARA, Friday, September 29.

According to him, from the results of the examination and investigation, it was known that there were those who deliberately made a video and then recorded the treatment to the victim, then uploaded and circulated widely on social media.

As for the motive for the incident, said the police chief, was jealousy. The perpetrator was jealous because the victim was with a man. They are a group of female junior high school students, however, there are two perpetrators who are adults with the initials A (18) and N (19) who are suspected of being involved during the incident.

"They are junior high school students. There are two adults. For now, they have just been secured, then after this an examination and deepening of the perpetrators. Whether of these seven people have direct involvement or not, they are still being investigated," he explained.

The former Palembang City Police Chief stated that the seven people were arrested because they were at the crime scene when the treatment occurred. Each role, he said, is still being investigated intensively.

"The victim has been taken to the hospital. We are still investigating for these seven people who carried out the persecution, who is making videos," he said.
