Ask Parents To Prevent Children From Being Bullying Actors, Heru Budi: Don't Be Busy Watching Korean Dramas

JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono asked parents to play a role in anticipating potential bullying in their children who attend school.

According to Heru, students can be prevented from becoming perpetrators of bullying if their parents are active in monitoring and educating them for good behavior.

"Titipesan, orang tua harus juga menjaga anak-anaknya. Di rumah juga harus memberikan pendidikan yang baik. Jangan menonton drama Korea," kata Heru kepada wartawan, Jumat, 29 September.

Parents, continued Heru, also need to supervise regularly the use of gadgets on their children. Because, gadgets can be any means of information you want.

"If the children see a cellphone, it is checked what he sees. Maybe he sees a violent film, then he goes to school, he imitates it," said Heru.

On that occasion, Heru claimed that he had instructed all school principals in Jakarta to prevent the phenomenon of bullying among students.

"Six months ago I collected school principals, all Kasudin (education), for schools there is no bullying. That is the principal's responsibility," said Heru.

According to him, if in the end there is bullying in the education unit, especially which leads to physical violence, the principal is obliged to report this case to the police.

"If you violate it, it's a legal domain, lah. You can't beat each other people. Report it to the police. The principal reports it to the police but there is guidance first. Right, he's a fellow school student. But if he's been seriously injured and all kinds of things, yes we don't forgive," he explained.

Continuing, the Assistant for People's Welfare of the DKI Jakarta Regional Secretary, Widyastuti, said that the DKI Provincial Government has a complaint channel related to violence. The DKI Provincial Government, he said, also provides assistance for the victims.

"Even if something happens, the DKI Provincial Government is present to guarantee it will become part of assistance. So at the hospital there is a clinic that handles it comprehensively, from the police side and assists psychiatrists and visums related to violence," he said.
