Jakarta's Air Quality Was Very Unhealthy On Thursday Morning, September 28, 2023

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Environment Agency (LH) said that the air quality of this area is very unhealthy because the number of fine particles (particulate matter / PM) 2.5 is based on the standard index of air pollutor (ISPU) at 200-299 on Thursday morning until 06.00 WIB.

The official website of the Environmental Information and Hygiene System of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Environment Agency, said that between five areas, the East Jakarta Crocodile Lubang had a PM2.5 figure of 281.

This figure has an explanation that the level of air quality is very unhealthy because it can harm health in a number of segments of the population exposed.

Then, the most worrying thing is that the level of danger (300-500) or in general its air quality can seriously harm the health of the population.

Then, for the lighter category, it is moderate (51-100) because it does not affect human or animal health but affects plants that are sensitive, and aesthetic value.

The best is the good category, namely the level of air quality which does not have an effect on human or animal health and does not affect plants, buildings or aesthetic values with a PM2.5 range of 0-50.

Apart from East Jakarta, other ISPUs in the city of Jakarta are monitored moderately, namely the Central Jakarta HI Roundabout (97), North Jakarta Kelapa Gading (92), South Jakarta Jagakarsa (73) and West Jakarta Kebon Jeruk (81).

Meanwhile, on the IQ Air monitoring site quoted by Antara on Thursday, at 06.25 WIB, Jakarta, it is classified as the number three city with the highest air pollution in the world with a value of 162, for the number one polluted city namely Lahore, Pakistan (1977), second Baghdad, Iraq (162), fourth Karachi, Pakistan (160) and fifth Kuching, Malaysia (1957),

The air quality index (IKU) in Jakarta is high because the current PM2.5 concentration is 15.2 times higher than the air quality guide value of the world health organization (WHO).

Air quality data was obtained based on monitoring at 20 monitoring stations, including on the Permai Screen (PIK), Jalan Raya Perjuangan (Kebon Jeruk), and Jimbaran (Ancol).
