Kaesang Is Considered To Be The Board Of Trustees Or Chairman Of PSI

Political observer Adi Prayitno assesses that President Joko Widodo's son, Kaesang Pangarep, can become the general chairman or supervisory board of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), after officially joining and obtaining a membership card.

"For positions, the supervisory board or party chairman, if it is only ordinary cadres, it is not comparable to its big name," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, September 23.

He explained that Kaesang could become an important actor, who was able to pass PSI to Senayan in the 2024 election. The results of the legislative election in 2019, PSI received 1.9 percent of the four percent requirement for the parliamentary threshold.

"Just looking for two percent, I think there is a Kaesang portfolio, and that's very possible," said the Director of Indonesian Political Parameters.

The same thing was conveyed by PDI-P politician Deddy Yevri Sitorus, who considered Kaesang unsuitable if he only got a position as an ordinary member.

"If I'm honest, if Kaesang is only a member of PSI, according to the president's child, it's not appropriate," he asserted.

Deddy conveyed that Kaesang has the potential to directly occupy the PSI Board of Trustees or maybe other positions such as the Secretary of the Board of Trustees.

"At least the Board of Trustees, let's learn quickly, the Secretary of the Board of Trustees. General Chairperson at PSI can be replaced at any time, don't take care of it, at least the Board of Trustees," said Deddy.

According to Deddy, if Kaesang occupies a strategic position, he will be able to attract the voices of young voters. However, Deddy felt sorry if Kaesang could not get a vital position in PSI.

Previously, the youngest son of President Jokowi Kaesang Pangarep officially became a cadre of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). Kaesang received PSI membership card (KTA) with member number S317420230151515.

The handover of the KTA was held at Kaesang's residence in Sumber Village, Banjarsari District, Solo City, Central Java, Saturday.

PSI Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees Grace Natalie said that the friendly relationship between PSI and Kaesang had been established for a long time.

"We appreciate Mas Kaesang for going down to fight with PSI friends. Today is an joy for all of us, to welcome our new member, Mas Kaesang," said Grace.
