Burn Land Using A Korek Api, Elderly 65 Years In OKI South Sumatra Arrested

SOUTH SUMATRA - Police arrested the perpetrator of land burning in Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) Regency, South Sumatra (Sumsel), Monday 18 September

Kasatreskrim OKI Police AKP Jatrat Tunggal said the elderly (elderly) actor had the initials H (65), a resident of Hamlet 1 Air Itam Village, Jejawi District, OKI.

He explained that H's arrest began with the patrol of members of the Jejawi Police who caught residents extinguishing the fire on land which covers a quarter hectares.

"Only members asked the residents what caused the land to catch fire. It turned out that the land was burned by the perpetrator using a gas lighter. The perpetrator's action cleared the land by burning on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 12.00 WIB," said Jatral in OKI, Monday, September 18, confiscated by Antara.

According to the confession, the perpetrator had collected wood and grass branches that had been cleaned since last year and burned with matches.

Then, the fire that burned wooden twigs and grass spread in the area of the land due to gusts of wind so that the fire grew and could not be extinguished, where the perpetrator had previously extinguished the fire with 2 bottles of drinking water.

However, the land fire continued because it had grown, causing the perpetrators to call residents to extinguish it.

"The perpetrator's land is one hectare and a quarter hectare is burned and the plan is for the perpetrators to plant bananas," he said.

For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 108 in conjunction with Article 69 paragraph (1) letter b of Law Number 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management with a penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 10 billion.
