Bareskrim Polri Completes The Case File Of Panji Gumilang Which Was Returned By The Prosecutor

The Directorate of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri has completed several shortcomings in the case file of alleged blasphemy with the suspect Panji Gumilang. The case file led by the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School was originally returned by the research prosecutor to investigators on August 29. "Investigators from the Directorate of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri have completed the case files returned by the public prosecutor," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters, Monday, September 18. With the completeness of the case file, investigators will immediately send it back to the research prosecutor. Then, it will be tested again about the completeness. However, regarding the time for the re-delegation of the case file, Ramadhan did not specify it. It was only conveyed that investigators would immediately do it. "Investigators will immediately send back the case file of PG's brother to the prosecutor," he said. Previously, the Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Djuhandhani Rahardjo Puro, said that his party would examine five witnesses and one expert in the process of completing the case file for the Panji Gumilang blasphemy case. "There are several material things that we immediately fulfill, namely there are about 5 additional witnesses or something for further investigation. Then there is an additional request for one expert," said Djuhandhani. However, the identities of the five witnesses were not explained in detail. It was only conveyed that they came from the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School and representatives of the community. In addition, investigators will also again examine Panji Gumilang. This is because from the research prosecutor's instructions, there are several statements from the head of the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School that must be contained in the case file. "Then for our PG brothers, we just need additional questions. Maybe what the prosecutor asked for," said Djuhandhani. In this case, Panji Gumilang is suspected of having multiple articles. First, Article 14 Paragraph 1 of Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning Criminal Law Regulations which carries a penalty of 10 years in prison.

Then, Article 45A paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 28 paragraph 2 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning ITE with a threat of 6 years in prison. Finally, Panji Gumilang was also charged with Article 156 A of the Criminal Code. In this article, the penalty is 5 years in prison.
