JAKARTA - Member of the DKI Jakarta Air Pollution Control Task Force, Erni Pelita Fitratunnisa, admitted that the government is currently still waiting for sufficient clouds to bring rain through weather modification technology (TMC). Fitri said that the DKI Provincial Government continues to coordinate with the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) to monitor the development of clouds in the Jakarta sky. "For TMX, indeed from BMKG and BRIN friends, we are still coordinating. This is directly from the president's direction in the meeting. The potential for clouds is taken into account," said Fitri at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, September 15. Fitri admitted that the current lack of clouds has prevented the government from making weather modifications to invite rain to reduce air pollution in the capital city. "Technology for weather modification is indeed something ideal to reduce pollutants. However, in this dry season, this is one obstacle, no clouds have been formed, so artificial rain cannot be done because there are no clouds," said Fitri. Therefore, another way that is being intensified by the government is the modification of micro-scale weather, one of which is the use of water mass as an air sprayer from the top of the building. "TMC is carried out on a smaller scale, namely watering with one engine with very low power or ability. So, slowly he unravels the pollutants in the air," he explained. Over the past few weeks, Fitri continued, the DKI Provincial Government has intensively socialized the use of water mists for building managers with a minimum of 8 floors, both owned by the government and the private sector. The DKI Provincial Government has actually required the installation of water mists in the building. However, currently the water sprayer developed by BRIN cannot be mass produced. "So far, 17 buildings have completed the water mist, 7 buildings are government agency buildings, 11 of which are private buildings," said Fitri.
"Actually, there are several more buildings that are committed to equipping the building with water mist, but are still in the process of providing water mass equipment. Hopefully next week there will be more buildings that have been completed by water mass," he added.
