Muhammad Rudi was born in Tanjungpinang City on October 20 1963. This 59 year old man is the husband of Marlin Agustina, Deputy Governor (Deputy Governor) of the Riau Islands. Muhammad Rudi currently serves as Mayor of Batam for the 2012-2026 period, while also holding the position as Head of the Batam Business Agency since 2019.

Little Muhammad Rudi attended school at Tanjungpinang PGA Training Elementary School. Then he continued his junior secondary level at SMPN IV Tanjungpinang. When he was a teenager, he attended SMA Negeri 1 Tanjungpinang and was listed as an alumni of the 1980-1983 class.

After graduating, Rudi studied at STIE Tribuana and succeeded in obtaining a Bachelor's degree. Not satisfied with having reached Bachelor's level, Rudi continued his Master's studies at STIE Ganesha and received a Master's degree in 2019.

Muhammad Rudi's Career Journey

Before entering the world of politics or working in government, Muhammad Rudi worked as a member of the National Police. However, in 2014, the former Head of Batam City Samsat decided to resign from the National Police. Then he chose to enter the business world.

As his life progressed, Muhammad Rudi became interested in entering the world of politics. Rudi joined the National Awakening Party (PKB) to run for the Batam City DPRD parliamentary seat in the 2019 elections.

Two years later with the Democratic Party, Muhammad Rudi participated in the Batam City Pilkada contest with partner Ahmad Dahlan as Deputy Mayor to lead Batam City during the 2011-2016 period.

In the 2016-2021 period, Muhammad Rudi again ran as Mayor of Batam. In this election he was promoted by the Nasdem Party as its political vehicle to date. It was during this period that Rudi was appointed by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs to hold the position of Head of BP Batam in 2019.

In the 2021 regional election season, Muhammad Rudi was re-elected as Mayor of Batam for the 2021-2026 term. Apart from being busy in government affairs, Rudi is also known to have led many important organizations, from the Chairman of the DPW Nasdem Party in Kepri to the Chairman of the DPW of the Indonesian Mosque Council in Kepri.

In his leadership as BP Batam, Muhammad Rudi focused on making licensing easier for investors and the public by cutting lengthy bureaucracy. He is recorded as overseeing the Development of Special Economic Zones (KEK) in Batam City such as KEK Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO).

The development of the KEK is a collaboration between the Lion Group and Garuda Indonesia and the KEK Digital at Nongsa Digital Park. This project is also the task of BP Batam.
