TNI AL Dumai Arrests 2 Smugglers 4.9 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine From Malaysia

DUMAI - The Dumai Naval Base Joint Team, Riau Province secured two Bengkalis Regency residents in the waters of Langkap Bay, Rupat Island, for trying to receive 5.4 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine shipments from Malaysia.

"The smuggling of 5.4 kg of crystal methamphetamine worth Rp7.5 billion was dismantled by the Joint Lanal Team and the Koarmada I Task Force on Monday (11/9)," said Commander of the Dumai Navy Base Colonel Laut (P), Kariady Bangun in a statement reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 12.

The arrest of two suspects with the initials ZA (49) and AS (39) in this waters was a chase. Because the dive boat was driven by the perpetrators to go at high speed and one person threw a black bag into the sea.

Two perpetrators admitted that they were ordered by a Malaysian citizen to pick up methamphetamine packaged in five packages to the waters of Muar Malaysia with a speedboat of 40 PK. The promise was rewarded with Rp. 5 million per pack.

"Officers also fired three warning shots into the air so that the perpetrators stopped running away. A black bag thrown into the sea was found," said Danlanal.

In carrying out the action, the perpetrator who claimed to be a courier for the first time pretended to be a fishing fisherman at sea. Before being handed over to the National Narcotics Agency of Riau Province, a urine test was carried out and tested positive for consuming methamphetamine.

Other evidence that Lanal also confiscated included one sunken ship without a blue name. Then a number of fishing equipment, such as 5 nets, 1 machete, 1 black bag and 1 small waist bag.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Narcotics Eradication and Intelligence Division of the Riau BNNP, Kombes Berliando, expressed his appreciation to Lanal Dumai for successfully dismantling the smuggling of methamphetamine. This is proof of the commitment to protect and guard the sea.

"These narcotics are extraordinary crimes and then we will process these two perpetrators. We appreciate Lanal for helping to guard our waters from drug smuggling," said Kombes Berliando.
