Head of the BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Center, Daryono, said the epicenter of the earthquake was located at coordinates 1.18 North Latitude (LU) and 127.44 East Longitude (BT), or precisely located on land at a depth of 152 km.

"By paying attention to the location of the epicenter and the depth of the hypocenter, the earthquake that occurred was an intermediate type of earthquake due to the subduction activity of the Maluku Sea plate," he said.

The results of the analysis of the source mechanism show that this earthquake has a thrust fault mechanism.

Daryono also updated information which initially had a magnitude of 5.9 to a magnitude of 6.2.

He said the earthquake that occurred at 19.51 WIB was felt in Jailolo, Manado City, Sangihe, and Kotamobagu, with an intensity scale of III-IV MMI (Modified Mercally Intensity). This means that during the day many people feel in the house, outside by several people, pottery bursts, windows/doors burst and walls rang.
