JAYAPURA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Pol Mathius Fakhiri admitted that efforts to release New Zealand national pilots were still being carried out but were not in a hurry. Indeed, it is true that the effort to release the hostages who were being held by the KKB continues to be carried out with full accuracy and careful deepening. Negotiations are still being carried out by involving various parties including families, explained Inspector General Pol Fakhiri as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 8.

Susi Air Pilot Philip Mark Mehrtens, was held hostage by the KKB led by Egianus Kogoya shortly after landing his plane in Paro, Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains. KKB also burned Susi Air's plane.
