After Shooting His Wife, A Man In Denpasar Hanged Himself

DENPASAR - Wayan Agus Yutayasa alias Kariasa (39) died by hanging himself after shooting his own wife using an air rifle.

His wife, Ketut Santi (38) became a victim of abuse by her own husband and is now being treated at the Central General Hospital (RSUP) Prof. IGNG Ngoerah or Sanglah Hospital, Denpasar, Bali, due to gunshot wounds.

The shooting took place at his second residence in North Ahmad Yani, North Denpasar, Tuesday, September 5 evening.

"(For his wife) after being treated at Wangaya Hospital, the victim was referred to Sanglah Hospital. Meanwhile (Kariasa) is still in the emergency room, in the observation room (RSUP Sanglah)," said Head of Public Relations of Police AKP I Ketut Sukadi, Wednesday, September 6.

From the testimony of witnesses, it is known that 4 gunshots were heard. The husband and wife also had time to ask neighbors for help because their mother was shot by her own father.

Members of the North Denpasar Police came to the scene and found Santi who was injured. Meanwhile, her husband was found hanging himself behind the house. It is suspected that before the shooting, there was a dispute over family and economic matters.

"The perpetrator (Kariasa) when he came home from work had an argument with the victim or his wife. The perpetrator was angry with taking the air rifle and then shooting him," he added.
