LPSK Considers Cases Of Unscrupulous Paspampres Members Torturing Citizens To Death Need Judicial Connection

Deputy Chairperson of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) Maneger Nasution assessed that the murder case involving unscrupulous Paspampres members needed to be resolved by the connectivity court.

"LPSK needs to see opportunities for justice connectivity to be implemented. The consequences are in accordance with the provisions of Article 89 of the Criminal Procedure Code, in the case of connectivity, the perpetrators who are included in the general court environment and the military justice environment are examined and tried by the general court," said Maneger Nasution as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 1.

Maneger hopes that the general court can make the case clear and drag the other perpetrators to court.

"It is also hoped that the disclosure in the general court of other perpetrators can be revealed and easily accessible to the development of information by the public," he said.

In the context of witness and victim protection, he continued, LPSK will also be more flexible in fulfilling the rights of witnesses and victims during the criminal justice process. This concerns the efficiency and effectiveness of protection.

In the near future, LPSK will reach out to the victim's family to explore further regarding the need for witness protection and ensure that the rights of the victim and his family can be fulfilled in accordance with the provisions of the law.

In addition, LPSK held a preliminary meeting with Komnas HAM RI on August 30, 2014 to coordinate regarding the handling of the case in question.

It is planned that LPSK-Komnas HAM will carry out a joint investigation in this case.

The victim is a cosmetic shop keeper in the Rempoa area, South Tangerang. He was allegedly kidnapped by the perpetrators on Saturday around the shop. The perpetrators had claimed to be police when kidnapping the victim.

The victim before he died had contacted his family and asked for Rp50 million. The victim's voice recordings contacted his family and video footage showing the victim being tortured by the perpetrator went viral on social media.

The victim's family had reported the kidnapping and torture of Imam to the Polda Metro Jaya. The report was received by the police with the number STTLP/B/4776/VIII/2023/SPKT.

The soldier suspected of being involved in the case is currently being detained by the Military Police of the Jaya Military Command (Pomdam). One of the perpetrators with the initials Praka RM is a member of the Indonesian Presidential Security Forces (Paspampres), while the other two perpetrators are Praka O (member of the Iskandar Muda Regional Military Command) and one other soldier is a member of the Topographic Directorate of the Indonesian Army.

Komandan Pomdam (Danpomdam) Jaya Kolonel Cpm Irsyad Hamdie Bey Anwar mengatakan tiga prajurit yang ditahan itu saat ini berstatus tersangka.

Meanwhile, TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono ensured that the investigation of the TNI soldiers involved in the crime of kidnapping and mistreatment of a resident from Aceh to death was carried out in a transparent, public and media manner.

"Yes, this is still an investigation. What is clear is that there is no immunity. We are open, please update, supervise everything, nothing in the TNI is covered up," said Yudo after the ASEAN 43rd Summit Security Forces Ceremony at Monas Cross Field, Jakarta, Friday.

The four-star general also oversees the course of the investigation and completion of cases through supervision carried out by Puspomad and TNI Puspom.

"Puspomads and TNI Puspoms always supervise supervision," said Yudo.

The former Chief of Naval Staff also emphasized to the ranks handling the case not to hesitate in taking firm action against the soldiers involved.

He also asked the media and the public to supervise and directly check the process of handling cases until the trial.

"From the start, I have told you, please don't hesitate anymore. You can check all investigations until the trial," he said.

Yudo also emphasized that the three soldiers involved in the persecution were individuals.

"If it is a crime, it is an individual. It is an individual," he said.

In ensuring transparency in the handling of the case, Yudo also invited the media and the public to supervise and be present at the trial.

"The trial of the case will be carried out openly to the public. If everything is present is allowed, nothing is covered up because this is indeed a crime," said Yudo.
