Burnt Scorch, Jayapura KPUD Office Moved By Regency Government With Additional Security

JAYAPURA - The Jayapura Regency Government (Pemkab) has provided a new office for the Jayapura General Election Commission (KPUD) which experienced a fire on Thursday, August 17, 2023.

Jayapura Regent Triwarno Purnomo said he had coordinated with the KPUD to move his office. "We have coordinated to provide a new place for the KPUD to return to work," he said in Sentani, Thursday, August 31, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to him, there are several new offices for election organizers in the local area, but the government is still discussing with them.

"There are several alternatives and we have not decided, later we will see which one is more appropriate for them to have an office and carry out state duties in general elections (elections)," he said.

The Acting Regent explained that apart from the burning office, the work facilities from the Jayapura Regency KPUD must receive full support from the local government (Pemda).

"We also have to pay attention to their work arena so that in carrying out their duties and functions as an institution that organizes elections can work well," he said.

He added that with the burning of four offices of the Archives Office, KPUD, the Kominfo and Radio Offices, it would be an evaluation from the Jayapura Regency Government in providing security and comfort in the regent's office area.

"I have ordered to tighten security behind the regent's office so that similar incidents do not happen again," said Triwarno.
