JAYAPURA - Head of the Jayapura Regency Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service (DP3A) Miryam Y Soumilena said that in her area there were four couples who decided on an early marriage.

In the mediation, he continued, a letter of recommendation from the DP3A will be issued as an official that has the duties and functions of child protection, whether the couple deserves marriage or not. "After mediation by us, to the two people who are about to get married but are underage, a letter of appropriate marriage will be issued or not. can't get married yet," he said.

He added that so far the cases handled by DP3A have not been recommended to have a marriage because they are still relatively young and old students. "They are students because of economic factors, eventually parents are forced to get married, and this is not allowed because children have the right to go to school," he said.
