JAKARTA - Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will make a working visit to Russia from August 31 to September 1, Turkish Foreign Ministry said.

"During the visit, bilateral agenda issues as well as regional and global developments will be discussed," the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 30.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is also expected to visit Russia soon to meet with President Vladimir Putin to discuss the Black Sea seed agreement.

Currently, Turkey is working to revive the Black Sea seed deal. Ankara said there was no other alternative than the initiative.

On July 17, Russia suspended participation in the Black Sea seed deal - brokered by Turkey and the United Nations (UN) - to continue exporting grains from three Ukrainian Black Sea ports that have been suspended since the war in Ukraine took place in February 2022.

Moscow has repeatedly complained that the West has not fulfilled its obligations regarding Russian grain exports, and said that restrictions on payments, logistics and insurance have been a barrier to the delivery of Russian wheat.

Ankara has made intensive efforts to restore the agreement and has also asked Kiev and Moscow to end the war through negotiations.
