Jakarta Hipotermia Residents On Mount Gamalama Ternate Successfully Evacuated Basarnas

A Jakarta resident named Salwa (21) who experienced hypothermia while traveling to Taman Love on Mount Gamalama, North Maluku (Malut) was successfully evacuated by the Ternate Basarnas.

Head of Basarnas Ternate Fathur Rahman explained that the joint SAR team who received the report moved and arrived at the location to provide first aid to the victim on Tuesday, August 29 at around 21.24 WIT.

Furthermore, the victim was evacuated from Mount Gamalama to the nearest hospital for further assistance.

Quoting Antara, Fathur explained that the incident began when the victim departed from the inn to Puncak Taman Love on Mount Gamalama to travel on August 29, 2023 at 16.30 WIT. However, the temperature in the location was low due to rain. As a result, the victims were cold and experienced hypothermia from 19.00 WIT.

The report asking for SAR assistance related to tourists from Jakarta experiencing hypothermia entered the Ternate Basarnas on Tuesday, August 29 at around 20.30 WIT After receiving the report, Basarnas Ternate coordinated with the local community to ask about the truth of tourists experiencing hypothermia.

Furthermore, a Ternate Basarnas SAR team moved to the location with ground SAR equipment to evacuate the victims.
