Joint Team Puts Out Land Fires In East Barito, Central Kalimantan

EAST BARITO - A joint team consisting of the Barito Hilir Production Forest Management Unit (KPHP), East Barito Regency, Central Kalimantan (Central Kalimantan), Manggala Agni and the company extinguished land fires in the company area PT Heroes Green Energi (HGE).

"The land fire has approached the residents' houses," said Head of KPHP Barito Hilir Zainal in Tamiang Layang as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 29.

The team that helped extinguish the fire on the land of a subsidiary of PT Ciliandry Anky Abadi, namely the Manggala Agni Team, Barito Hilir KPHP Team, PT HGE Karhutla Team.

"Currently the team is extinguishing land fires," he said.

Madi, a resident of Plantau Village, said the land fire had been going on for a week and was estimated to have devoured 20 - 30 hectares.

"The area, sir, is around 20 to 30 hectares," said Madi.

He and residents knew the fire came from the PT HGE plantation area and continued to burn and spread because of peat and dry land during the dry season.

General Manager and Public Relations of PT HGE (CAA Group) Erwin Fahriadi dismissed the fire from the garden area.

"The forest area around the garden was burned a lot. Because the land was peat, it was difficult to extinguish, it finally spread to our garden area (PT HGE)," said Erwin.

Erwin said his party jointly handled the forest and land fires until they spent the night at the location.

"We are gathering cooperation with Manggala Agni, TNI Polri, Pematang Karau Police, residents to deal with forest and land fires," he said.
