JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission IX of the House of Representatives Kurniasih Mufidayati, asked BPJS Kesehatan and the Ministry of Health to be proactive in protecting the health of DKI Jakarta residents, along with the emergence of Acute Breathing Channel Infections (ARI) due to air pollution.

Although not yet in the ISPA emergency category, according to Kurniasih, there is nothing wrong with mitigating and preparing to face a condition. He encouraged BPJS Kesehatan and the Health Office to ensure the availability of adequate health facilities and medical services for ARI patients.

"ISPA is one of the diseases borne by BPJS Kesehatan. We hope that the readiness to face ARI with the readiness of the necessary medicines and medical equipment must be guaranteed so that ARI patients can immediately get the right treatment," Kurniasih told reporters, Tuesday, August 29.

According to Kurniasih, the Health Office needs to educate the public regarding how to prevent ARI from air pollution.

"BPJS Kesehatan bersama pemerintah daerah dapat menyelenggarakan program eduktif untuk meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat mengenai dampak buruk pollusi udara dan langkah-langkah pencegahannya," jelas legislator DKI Jakarta itu.

In addition, he continued, BPJS Kesehatan can also provide priority handling for ARI patients who fall into the vulnerable category.

"BPJS Kesehatan can provide priority handling for ISPA patients, especially vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and pregnant women. This effort will maintain their safety and health in the face of unhealthy air conditions," said Kurniasih.
