There Are 15 Ex-Corruptors On The 2024 Babileg List, KPU When To Announce?

JAKARTA - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) found 15 candidates for legislative members in the 2024 General Election who were former convicts of corruption cases. They are included in the list of candidates (DCS) at the DPR RI and DPD RI levels.

"Today, political parties as the bearer of the legislative candidate (caleg) are still giving red carpets to former corruption convicts. ICW's findings show that there are at least 15 names of former corruptors in the DCS for legislative candidates, both at the DPR RI and DPD RI levels, which were published on August 19, 2023," ICW wrote in his statement, quoted on Sunday, August 27.

ICW questioned why the General Elections Commission (KPI) has never announced the former corruptor's leg. Thus, ICW considers the KPU to be covering up because it has not announced their legal status.

ICW is of the view that the absence of announcement of the status of corruption convicts in DCS will certainly make it difficult for the public to participate in providing maximum input and responses to DCS. Moreover, information regarding the life history list of the candidates who will also not be submitted through the KPU website.

"If in the end, the former corruption convict passes and is stipulated in the permanent candidate list (DCT), of course the probability of the community choosing a clean and integrity candidate will be smaller," he explained.

The KPU's attitude is different from the conditions in the 2019 Election. Where, at that time the KPU announced the list of candidates who were former corruption convicts.

"The courage of the Indonesian KPU has further added to the series of controversies since the beginning of the implementation of the election stages. On a number of these issues, Indonesia Corruption Watch urges the Indonesian KPU to immediately announce the name of Babileg, both at the city/district/province DPRD level, DPR RI, and DPD RI who are former corruptors," said ICW.

The following are the 15 legislative legislative elections in 2024 which are former corruptors: 1. Abdullah Puteh, candidate for the Indonesian House of Representatives of the NasDem Party, electoral district II. The former corruption convict bought two helicopter units while serving as governor of Aceh.

2. Rahudman Harahap, candidate for the DPR RI NasDem, electoral district of North Sumatra I. Former convict of corruption in allowance funds for South Tapanuli Village officials while serving as Secretary of the South Tapauli Regional Secretary.

3. Abdillah, the candidate for the DPR RI NasDem Party, the electoral district of North Sumatra I. Former corruption convict for the procurement of fire engines and misappropriation of APBD funds.

4. Susno Duadji, candidate for the DPR RI PKB, South Sumatra II electoral district. Former corruption convict for securing the 2009 West Java Pilkada and corruption in the handling of PT Salmah Arowana Lestari.

5. Nurdin Halid, a candidate for the Indonesian House of Representatives of the Golkar Party, South Sulawesi II electoral district. Former convict of corruption distribution of Bulog cooking oil.

6. Al Amin Nasution, a candidate for the Indonesian House of Representatives PDIP, Central Java electoral district VII. Former convict of the bribery case of the Regional Secretary of Bintan Regency, Riau Islands, Azirwan to smooth out the transfer of the protection debt function in Bintan Regency.

7. Rokhmin Dahriri, a candidate for the Indonesian House of Representatives PDIP, West Java electoral district VIII. Former convict of corruption in non-budget funds from the Department of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.

8. Budi Antoni Aljufri, candidate for the DPR RI NasDem, South Sumatra II electoral district. Former corruption convict in the bribery case of the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court as the former Regent of Empat Lawang.

9. Eep Hidayat, candidate for the Indonesian House of Representatives NasDem, West Java electoral district IX, from the Nasdem Party. Former corruption convict in the case of land tax levies and buildings in Subang district as former Subang Regent.

10. Patrice Rio Capella, a candidate for the DPD RI, the Bengkulu electoral district. Former convicts of gratification cases in handling regional aid cases, arrears in profit sharing funds, and capital participation of a number of BUMDs in North Sumatra.

11. Dody Rondonuwu, a candidate for the DPD RI, East Kalimantan electoral district. Former convict of insurance funds 25 members of the Bontang City DPRD 2000-2024 as a former member of the Bontang City DPRD.
