Central Sulawesi Bawaslu (Central Sulawesi) returned state money amounting to Rp200 million in the middle of an investigation into the corruption case of grant funds from the Central Sulawesi Provincial Government to Bawaslu in the election of governors and deputy governors in 2020.

"There was a return made by the person deemed responsible in the case worth Rp. 200 million," said Central Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) official Abdul Haris in Palu, Friday, August 25, confiscated by Antara.

Haris explained that although there were parties who returned state money in this case, the legal process would still be continued.

"The legal process continues and the return will later affect the demands, or even the verdict," said Haris.

Until now, the handling of the corruption case of grant funds worth Rp56 billion from the Central Sulawesi Provincial Government to Bawaslu is still in the process of calculating state losses by auditors.

"The results of the calculation of state losses do not yet exist, but from Bawaslu, some have returned Rp200 million in installments," he said.

He explained that in this case the Attorney General's Office had examined more than 30 witnesses. The Central Sulawesi Prosecutor's Office has also searched a number of Bawaslu secretariats in Central Sulawesi, Bawaslu in Donggala Regency, Bawaslu Parigi Moutong, Bawaslu Buol, Bawaslu Banggai and Bawaslu Morowali.

"We ask for the calculation of state losses to be accelerated, because the evidence is clear, if the results are already there, the suspect will be immediately determined," he said.
