SUKABUMI - Investigators from the Sukabumi District Attorney's Office searched Asy-Syahadatan Middle School, Kabandungan, Sukabumi Regency, West Java regarding the alleged corruption case of school operational assistance funds (BOS).

"This search is a series of investigations into cases of alleged corruption in school operational assistance funds (BOS) and the Indonesia Smart Program for the 2018 to 2020 fiscal years for the junior high school level under the auspices of the foundation," said Head of the Intelligence Section of the Sukabumi District Attorney's Office, Wawan Kurniawan, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 23.

From observations at the location, a number of officers from the Special Crimes and Intelligence Section of the Sukabumi District Attorney's Office were seen searching a number of rooms, one of which was the Asy-Syahadatan Junior High School administration room.

During the search, which was carried out from 11.00 WIB to around 13.00 WIB, officers were seen carrying a number of items in a medium-sized suitcase and a computer unit from inside the room.

Wawan said the items confiscated by the investigators were in the form of documents and computers to be used as evidence in strengthening case investigations.

In addition to collecting evidence, previously investigators from the Special Crimes Section of the Sukabumi District Attorney's Office had also examined 15 witnesses.

Investigators have also pocketed the suspect's name in the alleged corruption case of BOS funds and the Smart Indonesia Program.

From the results of the audit conducted by the Sukabumi District Attorney's Office, due to the alleged corruption case, there was a state financial loss of around Rp. 300 million.

However, to determine the exact amount of state losses, the prosecutor's office has coordinated with the Sukabumi Regency Inspectorate.

"From the results of the examination of witnesses, the modus operandi used by the alleged perpetrators to corrupt the aid funds was to include a number of fictitious student names as beneficiaries of the program. After the examination, it turned out that the names listed as recipients of aid did not exist or were not students of Asy-Syahadatan Junior High School," he added.

Wawan said fictitious names for the material of reports to the government and were also used to disburse BOS funds and the Smart Indonesia Program.

"This case is still under development, examination of witnesses is still being carried out and it is possible that the number of suspects involved in this case is more than one person," he said.
